  As a young girl, worked for Walter and Sadie Brown in Brooklyn Center, MN. When they moved to Lake Benton for health reasons, Jeanette was asked to live with them and attend high school. They wanted to adopt Jeanette but Chloa Scovil said "No. . . have 8 children but none to give away." Browns helped Jeanette through Mankato State Teachers College. Had Fair Elementary School in Golden Valley, MN named after her (Jeanette Fair was a muched loved principal at the school for many years). The school was later closed and reopened as FAIR School of the Arts - Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Resouce School. School had to retain the name "Fair" as demanded by the surrounding community in remembrance of Jeanette Fair.
